Before Disneyland came to be, Walt Disney had a grand vision. It was a vision of a place where children and parents could get away from real life and come to a magical place where they could have fun together and where their dreams could come true.
This vision became the Disneyland Resort located in Southern California. Construction on the Disneyland Vacations park began on July 21, 1954. The original Disneyland park consisted of Main Street, Adventure Land, Frontierland, Fantasyland, and Walt’s favorite, Tomorrowland. The park finally opened on July 18, 1955 almost exactly one year after the park broke ground.
Ten years after opening day the Disneyland Vacations Park had already over 50 million visitors who had come through their gates. Disneyland was a success and would continue to grow in popularity over the next sixty years. Today, Disneyland is practically a landmark. Anyone and everyone knows what Disneyland is and make it their vacation destination of choice.
You too can make it your vacation destination of choice. Treat yourself and your family to a little bit of Disney history this summer.
